BioWavePENS delivers therapeutic electrical signals through skin directly to pain nerves to:
The BiowavePENS Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation System is comprised of a BiowavePRO stimulator and Biowave Percutaneous Electrodes.
Biowave Percutaneous Electrodes are sterile, single-use and comprised of over 1000 microneedles that are 0.74mm in length. These electrodes feel like Velcro to the touch and are designed to provide a direct conductive pathway through skin into deep tissue bypassing the impedance of skin, allowing deeper penetration of the therapeutic electrical field. BiowavePENS may only be used with the following percutaneous electrodes manufactured by Biowave Corporation:
2 round equal area percutaneous electrodes (2.5″ diameter) used for treating 2 equal points of pain, or over the location the pain presents and over the source or original of the pain. Used for:
1 round percutaneous electrode for the primary pain site (2.5″ diameter); and 1 rectangular noninvasive electrode (2′ x 4″) to be placed over a bony prominence (a comfortable location) near the region being treated. Used for:
Many patients report a 75% reduction in pain scores and their pain relief improves even further following treatment.
Clinical studies and doctors report that use of BioWavePENS allows patients to reduce consumption of opioids and other pain medication by up to 50%.
BioWave treatments range in sensation from tingling to a deep, smooth muscle massage.
Patients who respond experience pain relief and improved function for up to 72 hours following the treatment. Multiple treatments may provide a cumulative benefit.
BioWavePENS can be used to relieve chronic, acute or post-operative pain most locations in the body, including lumbar, thoracic or cervical spine as well as all extremities.
If you feel less pain and have a positive response to the first treatment, your doctor may recommend that you return for 5 or more additional treatments. There may be a cumulative benefit with multiple treatments.
There are no limits to your activity after receiving a Bio WavePENS treatment. However, with less pain, patients should be careful not to perform strenuous activities that might have caused the pain in the first place.
